It is hardly surprising to discover that the book originated from an idea that Soderberg had for a television script. “I soon realized that I wanted to expand the story, to make it bigger, wider. That’s when I started to write it as a book. I wanted to paint with more colors than were available for television, in a way.

While this is a giant feat in itself, I do believe Mr. Soderberg has the potential to become a better writer as this series develops. I don’t mean that critique to sound harsh, as it is intended as a compliment. I am curious how this trilogy will unfold. I greatly look forward to Mr. Soderberg’s second book in this series.
